Capacity Building for the V4 Region on Climate Adaptation

The goal of the project is to create a better understanding of climate change impacts on local decision makers and other local stakeholders in the V4 region.

V4 countries developed national climate strategies, however, on adaptation, there are rather wide differences in approaches and commitment to action on the topic between the V4 countries. Local-level awareness of climate change is still at a basic level, and awareness of impacts of climate change and vulnerability is also weak. Ways of adapting to climate change are not well known yet, and in a lot of cases, ideas that do exist are not transferred into practice.

Description:

The project will provide a good basis for the partners to explore adaptation options and strengthen climate resilience by exchanging knowledge about local impacts and assessing community vulnerabilities in the V4 region. The project creates a new common training course with broader V4 experiences, using good and bad practices of the four NGOs partnering in the project. It will mobilize stakeholders and local-level decision makers at pilot capacity-building training in each Visegrád country to develop and implement local strategies based on scientific evidence and data in order to reduce and adapt to the impacts of climate change. The partners will also collect best practices of the V4 region on climate adaptation which will act as role models on adaptation issues and can be used generally in each V4 country.
