ISO 14064

Standards CSN ISO 14064 (ISO 14064-1, ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3) represent a new section of the standards ISO 14000 series. These standards deal with the issue of greenhouse gas emissions. Their voluntary use is mainly expected particularly in programmes of trading with emission allowances for greenhouse gas emissions or in voluntary initiatives of organizations in identifying, monitoring, reporting and validating or verifying of inventories of greenhouse gases. The use of this standard is also expected in the planning and implementation of projects on greenhouse gases and in voluntary initiatives of organizations in the establishment and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions in order to reduce them.

Standard ISO 14064 consists of three complementary components. Standard ISO 14064-1 includes requirements for a plan, implementation, management and administration, reporting and verification of greenhouse gas emission inventories for organizations. The second part of the standard (14064-2) specifies the requirements for quantifying, monitoring and reporting of achieved reduction or elimination of emissions through projects on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The third part (14064-3) specifies requirements and determines the rules of managing the process of verification and validation of information about greenhouse gases.
